Formula SAE

Post by FSAEsteve »

Hello all,
My name is Steve, I'm with the University of St Thomas Formula SAE team (see: http://www.flickr.com/photos/evoforstev ... 891291209/ ) I am in charge of engine, drivetrain, and tuning for this year's build. I have decided a Microsquirt is the way to go for tuning this year. This decision arose from our trial last year with the stock harness and messing with unnecessary stock safety measure. There was also a rats nest of useless wiring that could save weight and clean up the engine. With this reasoning, I then factored cost and the Microsquirt out performed everybody else in this category. However, due to the DIY nature, and the fact I'm mechanical not electrical, we decided the Micro instead of the full blown Mega. The micro is still going to be a very...hands on project that will involve a lot of learning, which brings me to why I'm here: to learn! Anyway, thanks for reading this, if you have any pieces of advice, questions, or potential sponsor knowledge (Shameless plug 8) ) I'd love to hear about them!
