running a MS on a 88 Turbo Ford ??

Post by boostedtbird »

I do apologize for posting this if its been covered. I've search for posts related to my car (88 thunderbird turbo coupe) I didnt see anything. Im just looking for a recommendation on what to buy to be honest im pretty clueless with MS. I believe http://www.DIYAutoTune.com/catalog/diyp ... p-421.html is what I need? Again I apologize if im breaking any rules with this post..I am clueless with Megasquirt and dont know a soul in person who runs it. And frankly when people talk ecus with our cars its always run P.I.M.P.

I work at a software company and some minor soldering is done here as well on some boards. So depending on the level of difficulty on setting up/soldering these things up I might be able to set it up without too much trouble. Im pretty much looking for a idea on what I need and how hard they are to setup on my car :D

Thanks everyone..if im in the wrong Mods please move

There are quite a few ways to MegaSquirt these cars; the DIYPNP will definitely work here, and plugs into the stock wiring. A regular MS2 can also be used if you don't mind some rewiring, although add in a wiring harness and the costs are pretty close.

I was hoping for the easier approach so DIYPNP sounds like it would be the way to go and. So im reading on TurboFord getting pretty lost with the whole EDIS stuff and whatnot. With the PNP will I be able to retain my stock distributor or do I need to get a trigger wheel? Oh yeah ive read with the PIMP system I can ditch my stock VAM is that option on a PNP?

thanks for the info

The DIYPNP lets you keep the stock distributor and remove the vane air flow meter.
