EDIS and KNOCK sensing

Post by vnovshad »

This might be a topic that has been discussed i'm sure. I did take time to search for an answer, and came up with nothing. Maybe i did not search the right key words. I have the MS 3.57 and the wiring harness from DIY autotune. Now i have my car running on the ford edis set-up but I also want a knock sensor input. Is this possible? As the ford edis uses the knock sensor input available on the harness.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you'd use the standard knock sensor mods here:

http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/knock.htm

The knock sensor circuit doesn't care what is on the ignition circuit - it'll work with HEI, EDIS, wheel decoding, or whatever you're using there.

ok now here is the problem, I cant get the knock sensing to work with ms II 3.57, code version 2.89. I have everything hooked up the way it should be. Im using the factory knock sensor and this conditioning module http://www.viatrack.ca/. The timing retard output from that module I have connected to spare port one, which is jumped to js4. Now i know the module works because the led is flashing when i rev it up and down, and the sensitivity control is working on the module. When measured with a voltmeter the timing output of the module is 0v when knock detected and 5v when no knock detected. In megatune when threshold direction is set to "above threshold" timing is always retarded regardless of knock, when set to "below threshold" timing is never retarded regardless of knock. Do i have something hooked up incorrectly? or its a setting issue?
