Read the manual to see if your question is answered there before posting. Many users will not reply if the answer is already available in the manual.

If your question is about troubleshooting, configuration, or tuning, you MUST include your processor type (MS-I or MS-II) and code version in your post. If your question is about PCB assembly or modifications, you must also include the main board version number (1.01, 2.2 or 3.0). For tuning/troubleshooting questions, please attached a datalog and your MSQ file to your post.

If you have questions about MS1/Extra or MS2/Extra code configuration or tuning, please post them at www.msextra.com Such questions posted here will be moved to: a temporary MSextra sub-forum, where they will be removed after 7 days

I'd Like to test a way of determining opening time

Post by Bluehaze »

G'day All.
Firstly, I'd like to say it's been just over a year now since I first fired up my MS'ed 1961 Holden, and it's been an absolute hoot :D . Lots of tuning, learning, a bit of dyno time where I even converted the dyno bloke who'd never seen a MS system. After about 3000 kilometers, I have a reliable, smooth and a surprisingly torquey inline six. A big thanks to all those helpful experts who have so far shared their wisdom.
Anyhow...
I have a theory regarding determining the true opening time for my injectors. So far, all I've read that this is a "Best Guess" setting, usually condidered around 1mS at 13.2 volts. (Please correct me if I'm missing something)
So, I figured could it be as simple as to get the motor running at a constant state, say 2000 rpm at no load, and switching between 2 squirts per and 1 squirt per cycle. Doubling the pulsewidth and conversely halving the cycles leaves us with the only constant masked off being injector open time. So, say if the EGO reading drops when the pulses are doubled, then the opening time may be a bit long. From here its just a case of fiddling with the opening time until the EGO remains unchanged when switching between Two and One squirts per cycle.
Does that theory hold water?
